At 10,000 square feet, Cycle Heaven of York is North Yorkshire's largest cycle store.
The premises are at Fulford Industrial Estate, 31 Hospital Fields Road, near Millennium Bridge.
There's a very large range of bikes for sale, including e-bikes from Riese und Muller and other brands.
There's also a workshop, bike fitting suite, and a café.

Get Cycling is a community-owned, not-for-profit bike shop at 22 Hospital Fields Road.
They sell new and refurbished cycles, and offer service and repairs.
You can hire a bike from Get Cycling.
Get Cycling are specialists in inclusive cycling, and sell tricycles, recumbents, tandems and multi-seats, wheelchair-friendly cycles, family and cargo bikes, and handcycles.

York Cycleworks Ltd was a large, traditional, friendly, independent bike shop at 14-16 Lawrence Street, just outside Walmgate Bar, but is closing in 2025.
Recycle York is a bike shop at Unit 3 Enterprise Complex, just off Walmgate.
They buy and sell bikes, and prices for second-hand bikes start at £50.
Recycle York also service and repair bikes of any age, and stock a wide range of used parts for home fixes.
They do community work with schools, and donated bikes to NHS workers at the height of the pandemic

Cycle Heaven at York Station is a minor outpost, not the main one of the Cycle Heaven shops.
They have a workshop for bike servicing and repairs, and they sell accessories like light and rain jackets.
At the time of writing (September 2021) they are not doing bike hire.

The Electric Transport Shop specialises in e-bikes. The premises are at 32, Walmgate.
As well as sales, they do servicing and repairs, including battery testing, wheel building and tyre fitting.
They also do loans and hires.

Cycle Street electric bikes are at 87, Layerthorpe.
They focus on high-quality e-bikes, stocking brands including Bosch and Ebike Motion.
They also do mountain, kids, urban and road bikes, plus clothing and accessories, and they have a workshop for servicing and repairs.

Giant York is at 13, Lord Mayor's Walk.
It was Bob Trotter Cycles, York's oldest bike shop, and became a Giant store in 2011.
They stock Giant and Liv bikes, and sell accessories. They also service and repair all makes and models of bike.
Giant York can do PowerFit bike fitting in store, and they offer performance cycling coaching and testing in conjunction with York St John University.

Liv Store York is a women's specific bike shop at 18 Monkgate, stocking a wide range of Liv bikes and cycling gear. Liv is a cycling brand completely dedicated to women.
Liv York is linked to the nearby Giant shop. Like Giant, the Liv shop offers PowerFit in store.

Jorvik Tricycles are based at Unit 6, Hazel Court, Yorvale Business Park, which is a light industrial estate just off James Street. Visits are by appointment only.
Jorvik Tricycles have a large stock of electric, folding, low-step, child carrier, and mountain tricycles.
Jorvik's mission is to bring the enjoyment of cycling to everyone. They supply reliable, aesthetically-pleasing tricycles at prices people can afford.

Cycle Heaven at the Angel is at 2 Bishopthorpe Road.
It is a cycle repair workshop in the premises of the Angel on the Green café-bar.
As well as servicing and repairs, they sell accessories such as pumps, locks, lights, and tools.

There's a Halfords on Foss Islands Road, near to Morrisons.
They have a large bike shop upstairs, and do what you'd expect Halfords to do: bikes and accessories for sale, and servicing and repairs.
They have a covered area for their Wefit service, but the adjacent bike parking area is left exposed to the elements. How about covered bike parking?

Poetry in Motion are custom wheel-builders and restorers at Unit 1, Franklins Yard, 28a Fossgate. They also supply Sapim custom-cut spokes to wheel-builders all over the UK.
Dylan Thomas and the team work closely with customers to determine their needs, using quality materials and paying attention to detail.

Just Riding Along are at York Eco Business Centre, Amy Johnson Way, Clifton Moor.
They specialise in wheel-building. During the wheel-building process, all components are bedded in, stretched, and tensioned repeatedly, so they won't go out of true or lose tension.
They service and repair wheels they have built.
Haxby Cycles is at 202 York Road, Haxby.
It is a traditional local bike shop, stocking commuter, road, mountain, and triathlon bikes. They also have a good stock of accessories.

Evans Cycles have a shop at 3 Julia Avenue, Monks Cross Shopping Park.
It is one of a chain of bike shops, and sells road bikes, mountain bikes, hybrids, and folding bikes. You can also buy clothing and accessories, and parts and components.

Twisted Cogs is a cycle repair workshop at Home Farm Buildings, Main Street, Bishopthorpe.
It is run by Tom Cropper, who is an experienced bike mechanic.
Twisted Cogs will undertake all kinds of servicing and repairs, and stock a range of parts and spares.

Cycle Culture is a mobile bicycle repair service for York and the surrounding area. They are based in Clifton.

They offer a basic service, standard service, and individual fixes.

They offer a range of maintenance options from basic service to full bike overhaul. They also build bikes.

Fulford Cycles were at 98 Main Street, Fulford, but appear to have closed down during the pandemic.
