The Mayor of London Sadiq Khan and his Walking & Cycling Commissioner Will Norman today announced their Streetspace plan. It is designed to accommodate a 10-fold increase in cycling and a 5-fold increase in walking as lockdown is lifted.

The predicted increases in active travel are due to reduced public transport capacity.

Elements of the plan include using temporary materials to create new routes, changing local town centres to accommodate more walking and cycling (allowing for social distancing), and creating low traffic neighbourhoods.

Euston Road and Park Lane should benefit from temporary bike lanes. Pavements have been widened on Camden High Street and Stoke Newington High Street.
